It will perhaps be of some interest that as of yesterday, the four largest Canadian provinces, as well as Newfoundland and Labrador, have women as Heads of Government. (One territory too.) The most impressive, at least to my mind, is Kathleen Wynne, who was sworn in yesterday as Premier of Ontario.
Not very well known before her ascendancy, Wynne is perhaps the only Canadian politician who has the brains, toughness, and character to displace Stephen Harper as Prime Minister of Canada. But she is at least five years away from federal politics, so I am afraid we're going to have to put up with His Dourness for a while longer.
