As promised last week, here is a bit more about Luiz Melodia. He is one of the many extremely talented musicians in Brazil, with a solid career (since the 1970s, and going strong!) and a steady group of fans, who nevertheless never reached the same level of stardom as e.g. Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento or Chico Buarque. Yet, many of his songs are true masterpieces and are rightly viewed as classics of Brazilian folk music; he has an amazing voice and is a great composer. Here are two of his great songs: ‘Magrelinha’ (my husband loves this one) and ‘Mistério da raça’ (a bit more 80s-sounding, a bit over-produced, but still a great song). Hope you'll like them!
