See, it is back. And on Friday. And political. And selected.
I suppose any survey of political music about technology must begin with the classic, here performed by Billy Bragg who tried hard to rescue this piece from nationalist nonsense.
Which transitions nicely to this piece by Sting, what with the reference back to Blake.
On a different theme there is this classic by Gil. With another on a similar theme by the DBTs.
And while I'm on the DBTs, no post about technology killing humanity could possibly end without John Henry. Here's a brilliant re-envisioning of that story that makes explicit the political subtext. The original hard-rocking version is fabulous, but I can't find a good version on the web. Same album as "people on the moon" which I heartily endorse.
So have at it folks.
