THE HEADLINE TO THIS BLOG WAS A SERIOUS MISTAKE. I APOLOGIZE TO OUR COLLEAGUES AT MIZZOU HERE.
This essay is written by Zachary Ernst on the tenure case of his wife at Mizzou. (We link with permission of the author.) It makes for sobering testimony.
UPDATE: As outsiders we are in a bad position to judge the merits of her case. The interest of Prof. Ernst's piece is his testimony of sexism he witnessed and his arm-chair sociological analysis of academic mores. Sometimes anger makes us discern and speak truth, after all (but cf. Coetzee's Slow Man).
Further UPDATE: The link is not an endorsement of Prof. Ernst's allegations.
