Brian Leiter is running another fun poll: the best ethics books in the last 200 years (dead authors only). Given that works by Nietzsche and Williams are 20% of the nominated works, some worthies got omitted. Here is my preliminary list of significant omissions:
- A.N. Prior Logic and the Basis of Ethics
- Camus The Myth of Sisyphus
- Iris Murdoch Metaphysics as a Guide to Morals
- Nozick The Examined Life
- Jane Addams Democracy and Social Ethics
- J.S. Mill The Subjection of Women
- Levinas Totality and Infinity
- Kierkegaard...half of a dozen works?
Anyway, the comments are open for further suggestions.
