A few days ago, Mohan reported a case of suppression at Elsevier. It reminded me that during the Synthese affair, Brian Leiter published part of the exchange between some of the General Editors of Synthese and Barbara Forrest. Significantly, the editors of Springer (one of them a facebook friend of mine) were part of the exchange, while John Symons (another general editor of Synthese) was not. At the time, I was intrigued by the fact that Symons was left out; of course, the crucial part of the story was that the folk at Springer were part of the conversation. One wonders what role the Springer lawyers played during the Synthese affair?
