Mohan's cri-de-coeur, is generating a lively discussion. I want to challenge a consensus about David Lewis' so-called 'clarity' of prose within it. In any given article by David Lewis, he clearly wants the reader to think he is "very clear," but that does not mean he is always "up-front" or even "clear". In fact, his classic, co-authored [with Stephanie Lewis] dialogue, Holes, implies (to this reader) that Lewis recognizes that clarity, too, comes with trade-offs some of which cannot be stated within the confines of a journal article, or the tradition and are, thus, unclear...
The take-home message got slightly obscured in a later book-review.
