UPDATE: The 'A gay girl in Damascus' blog is a hoax. See here for relevant links.
Early this year, in February, we had lots of posts on the revolution in Egypt. After that, we've been a bit too quiet, I'm afraid, concerning what is going on in other Arab countries, Lybia and Syria in particular. So I just want to draw your attention to a very interesting blog I've been reading lately, A Gay Girl in Damascus. Among other things, she's been reporting on the latest events in Syria from an insider's perspective, and for me at least it's been very informative to read some of her posts.
Moreover, and related to our posts (here and here) on the anti-gay bill in Uganda, Syria is a place where homosexuals are badly oppressed, so her testimony is also important in this sense. Since there is internet, it's become so much easier to look beyond our own backyards!
