Why you should support the call for action and the petition in support of the GCC, too

There are some pros and some cons to this petition, as has been discussed on the New APPS blog earlier this year. Obviously, reasonable people may end up disagreeing. My reason to sign this is similar to everyone else's: there are many excellent female philosophers in all fields. It is wrong that they're underrepresented at conferences. If a bit of individualistic affirmative action like this makes things better, then I support it.
