It was awesomely cool that when President Obama came out and hugged former President Bill Clinton last night, this song abruptly interrupted Clinton's Fleetwood Mac theme song, "I won't stop thinking about tomorrow."
I've got nothing against Fleetwood Mac, but it just is a fact that none of their songs were covered by Johnny Cash.
. . . and Obama's not going to back down. As we used to say in Alabama, you can put that in your corn-cob pipe and smoke it.
[Cue Protevi on political affect. I really did briefly feel right with the world when Obama came out and Petty's music came on. Feeling briefly alright with the world is big deal for Calvinists like myself. But that's a longer story, and would involve interpretation of several more Tom Petty songs.]
