There's still a small chance that the Higgs boson has not been shown to exist. But we surely know that the USA is not in this game. This saddens me, truly it does—but at the same time we should recognize, with joy, that American exceptionalism is dead.
By the way, I like it that the lower case part of the supposed particle's name is for an Indian scientist, Satyendra Nath Bose (who did not make hifi systems).
