It really is in some ways redemptive when philosophical and moral praiseworthiness inhabit the same person. I can't help but to feel that (to a small, defeasible extent) the co-occurrence provides some evidence for the truth of the philosophy, and that their divergence provides countervailing evidence. That may not be defensible though.
